People ask me this question all of the time: "Will signs ever become obsolete, replaced by technology such as LED Programmable signs and social media?"
The answer is: I don't know. I am no prophet.
But what I absolutely do know, is that signs are used more than anyone thinks. Even I was surprised by the shear amount of signs that were needed every day. For instance, take a drive down any road in Wilson, NC, or whatever town you are in, and count how many signs you see. You'll probably lose count. And what many people don't realize is that is only the tip of the iceberg. There are hundreds more signs inside of manufacturing plants, department stores, churches and hospitals.
It would be impractical for many of these signs to replaced with anything digital. Although the sign industry is constantly changing and requires sign shop owners to change along with it, non-electrical signs will always be needed.
Signs that will always be needed, as far as I know are the following:
Vehicle Graphics
Office Signs
Storefront Graphics
Manufacturing Plant Directional/Informational Signs
Store Display Signs
And I'm sure the list goes on and on.
But if I'm completely wrong and the sign industry does become completely digitized, you can bet on Wilson Signs and Graphics adapting and excelling.
